MINI PLOT TIME

In addition to the retrieval bots and other various ugly things going on in the Tower proper, one of your resident telempaths (i made that word up do you like it) is going to fly off the deep end. This is how I give Karkat a "Happy Year Anniversary" present. In short, the reality bending trials, topped with him being voted off and murdered has had a rough effect on his psyche.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU:

This is basically entirely optional -- if you don't run into Karkat, this will probably have no effect on you. HOWEVER I'd like for people to keep in mind that if you do choose to participate, you may be effecting your own close CR, so it might be prudent to check with them before you tag into the thread.

KARKAT'S RANGE OF ABILITIES INCLUDE:

- Mind control
You have two options here. If you're not a lowblooded troll, you can opt for the easy route and fall victim to narcolepsy at his behest. If your character is weak of will/mind, you are welcome to fall victim to his full control. If they are stronger of will/mind and you still want to do the second option, I will need to address this on a case by case basis. I would like to know about this before you tag others. People who choose the second option are welcome to thread with other people as if Karkat is influencing them to perform morally questionable deeds. Again PLEASE plan this ahead of time with the people involved and PLEASE inform me if this is what you want to do!

- Emotional manipulation
Again, two options. Karkat is still the equivalent of 13 (nearing 14) years age, so please take that into consideration before you make your choice. As the Thief of Heart, Karkat is able to make people feel ways they would not normally feel, usually pertaining to himself. However, because he's out looking for trouble, he will also be looking to screw with previously established relationships. This is a good way to start new CR, or to advance previous CR in another direction. If a character normally acts a certain way (say, for example, they are flirtatious on occasion) Karkat may also amplify their personality (so that they will make advances on everyone in sight). Once again, you may assume they are under Karkat's influence if you'd like to thread with another person but please talk to me and those involved first.

People who fall victim to narcolepsy will wake up within the hour with memory of falling asleep, but no knowledge of how it happened. This does not need to be threaded out, as Karkat will be doing it at random.

Karkat's telepathy is a little stronger than Vriska's so it can last for several hours depending on the scenario, but will not last over a period of 4 hours. People can be controlled multiple times if they so wish. People do need to be in range for his telepathy, so there is always a chance for him to be seen -- he's not being entirely shy about it, but he's not being super obvious either. If someone sees him, they see him, but he won't be making a show of it. If someone happens to notice him controlling the person and wants to try and snap them out of it, they just need to interrupt his concentration. Again, I'll get into more detail if people want to play out that sort of scenario, just keep in mind that Karkat must be in range though he doesn't have to be visible unless you want him to be (in which case, let me know).

My ultimate goal here is for him to get some sort of comeuppance for this. The shenanigans will start Friday, June 29th ICly, and end once Kanaya gets a hold of him to snap him out of it (or sooner, if someone gets angry enough to kill him, I guess), probably the following Friday. I'd like to keep it going as long as possible so that people stuck in the pods have an opportunity to play also.

QUESTIONS? :D This is mostly meant to give the opportunity for some new CR and to play out scenarios you might not get to do in game under normal circumstances.

OH HI, welcome to animus! :D I'm sorry I missed your intro, I was just given new work hours and they're kind of kicking my ass.

This Karkat is indeed an AU, from a bloodswap coined Red Dead Virgo. He's the cerulean of the group. He's got Vriska's powers (slightly altered) and is the Thief of Heart rather than the Thief of Light.

Since Signless is a mutant, he pretty much has full selection of any of the above -- the higher blooded trolls are the only ones who can't fall victim to mind control. But that's up to you. :3

Rhyth is honestly probably the easiest to control out of my bunch anyway - Ghirahim would be impossible because ahahaahha DEMON THING, Link would... resist ridiculously but be the second easiest to control, and then Minato would be the easiest to make do HORRIBLE THINGS if/when he gets back since he's kind of seriously fucking broke atm as well.

Actually him and all of Strega are probably not going to be Very Well Off. And he's the likeliest to murder people too soooo yeah. :|a Depends on what you want to do with that. c:

I am literally down for anything, this is mostly a plot For The People. Karkat isn't really going to be totally aware of the damage he's causing, so it depends if you wanna play around with murderous minato for a week :>

.... That would actually be amazing and lines up really well with my plans for him, let me bother the rest of the Purse Owners first and ask, because I mean he has a gun and a fucking fragment of Death in his head OF COURSE HE WOULD KILL PEOPLE after this event.

Besides he's just going to be really snapped anyway so he'd be more susceptible. Though I do imagine, however, that Karkat WOULD get some weird vibes after it was all over. I don't think Death will be very pleased with him controlling his Holding Jar, haha. (Which of course means once I talk to the others it totally needs to happen if OK'd.)

I don't think Karkat could do much to Kuja on the psychic level (although I am tempted to have that power affect Genomes slightly differently than typical humans), but emotional...

That has a lot of potential but the first thing to come to mind is Karkat getting in way over his head, since Kuja's a bit of a timebomb when it comes to his own emotions.

Maybe we could aim/plurk about this?

I'm down for this, considering my school hiatus made me miss the game-wide plot for this month. (And I need to interact with more people, in general, hurhur.)

Grell is pretty stubborn and strong-willed, so the first option wouldn't be very viable for her. However, she's emotionally volatile, so the emotional manipulation might work on her, especially if you're down with the idea of amplifying negative emotions.

Basically, the pod event marks the second time that Ronald Knox - whom she sort of regards as a little brother, even though she won't admit to feeling that soft for him - has been dragged away to be tortured by the tower, and she's been left behind and unable to rescue him. This pisses her off, and is also kind of making her paranoid that the tower is saving up something really awful for her. So, to deal with being unable to do anything about Ronald or William, in the pods, she's been running around hunting the hellhounds that have been spotted in the tower. The thing is, she likes recreationally killing things, and between her anger, her isolation, and the fact that killing monsters just doesn't give her the satisfaction that killing a human does...she's sort of going stir-crazy.

If you'd be interested in having Karkat play that up, and make her go really, really bloodthirsty, I'd be down for finding some folks willing to let her pick a fight with/maim/kill their characters, with her emotions amped up by Karkat.

Awesome, awesome. And that'll be fine - she might track him down when everything is all said and done, though, when and if she finds out that he was responsible for everyone getting all crazy. Depending on how it goes, and if she's actually able to kill anyone...she might thank him, as opposed to wanting to wring his neck.
