cognizance; plotting, opt-in/out — Curse Slots
Heellloooo, Tower. Do you know what most of you are? That's right, trash, or not particularly worthwhile or useful, at least in Ion's eyes. But do you know how you can be useful? If you don't, that's all right, Original Ion really doesn't either, but he knows an opportunity when he sees one, and he'll probably figure it out if/when it comes up.
You see, Ion was one of the collar check boycotters- which means he will be awake the night of the 26th, when all the non-boycotters are frozen.
Therefore, this is the perfect time to place Curse Slots on people without their noticing.
What's a Curse Slot? Some of you, who ran into the original Screaming Monster last month, might be familiar with this particular ability. In short, it's a combination mind read and mind-control power, based on the memories of the target. To use an example from my app, you can't force someone to do something that they've never had any will to do or has no parallel situation or emotions in their memories. You can, however, turn a friend against a friend if, say, one had once harbored the desire to kill them— even if it's long since been resolved or put behind them or had extenuating circumstances or whatever. The effects are weakened by distance, though if you're on the same floor it probably won't make much of a difference considering how small they are.
It first needs to be placed physically, but afterward it can be triggered whenever. The mark might as well be unnoticeable when it's inactive, as it doesn't do anything in that state. When activated or deactivated, however, there'll be a glyph that glows a rather sickly purple for a moment before vanishing.Because it's placed on the body, it will dissipate upon Tower death. So there's an easy out for those of you who die far too often. ...Well, 'easy.' ACTUALLY EDIT, SINCE I HAVE NEW INFO FROM A MOD: All Curse Slots will dissipate in the case of Ion himself dying, however, they may linger on the afflicted due to their basis in memory. Whether or not they linger is entirely up to whether you, as the player, is okay with it.
What's he going to do with this ability? Well, nothing, just yet; there's nothing to do with it, after all, and he's not going to carelessly use it just like that.
But who knows. It's better to be prepared, just in case, so this is a heads-up. Orion will most likely be spending his couple of 'lost hours' ghosting around the dorms and maybe a couple of the floors placing these. I don't really know how the mingle log is going to work out yet, but the placements can be either handwaved or briefly threaded out (though considering how the majority of characters will be frozen that might be a rather one-sided thread). If you absolutely do not want him placing one on your characters, reply here with the characters in question.
Likewise, if you for some reason really, really have some burning want for this to happen, reply here with your character and whether or not you'll be okay with the Curse Slot lingering upon Tower Death. I may or may not be able to hit up that many characters due to IC constraints (curse you chronic illness), but I will certainly do my best to accommodate (and possibly plot further, if/when time comes) and, well, quite honestly I suspect this will mostly be a handwaved thing, considering. So it'd be good to have a list here for my own records as well.

And yes, I am okay with it lingering!

She has a bad habit of prowling around at night, but would probably be found in the dorm hallways heading back to her room for some sleep.
Dio has this problem tenfold - orange collar, more easily caught because he wouldn't be able to get lost in the backlog quite as easily. He'd probably be found sneaking around the dorm floors too... if only because he's a creep and likes to get acquainted with others' habits so he knows when an OK time to pull his special brand of shit on them is.
I'm okay with curse slots lingering after Tower Death on both of them! Let's be awful. <3

I'm fine with the Curse Slot lingering, also!

Of course, considering why it'd be there in the first place, your best bet is to somehow realize it's there and go to his far less misanthropic replica for help (of course, this might require knowing what it is...). It's kind of weird in that it acts via the 'Fon Slots,' which are basically the natural channels the body has for absorbing/directing energy/magic/what have you. Hence the name Curse Slot.
I'm not entirely sure how they'd fare in power-null conditions, but I'm assuming they, like any other part of the power glamours or any other variant of mind-control just. Wouldn't take effect at that point, though they'd come back upon leaving the area if I remember the FAQ entry about that sort of power right. So power-loss floors would probably be a good temporary relief. In that same vein, I'd suspect any magic blocking abilities from another character could also null the effects when used on whoever's affected even if the mark is still there. If you want to tackle it from that angle, I'll leave it up to your own discretion on whether it's a partial null, completely effective one, blocks the Curse but also has to block any abilities of the target too, or whatever since I know the methods of magic blocking can vary.
And if all else fails, there's always the "removal by death" option when you get tired of having it on you.

Works for me. /o/
