Event: If You Don't; Part One

The plastic bowl and the note are not there before 6:30 AM - characters who woke before that time won't see them until they return. But any time after 6:30, the note will be able to be picked up and read.

You'd better stock up on candy while you can! They get awfully hungry, you know! ❤

Reading the note in its entirety will make a character feel like they must go and gather candy; they won't know quite why, but there will be a nagging feeling at the back of their minds like they ought to. A particularly stubborn character will be able to keep themselves from doing so with varying effects during the days that follow - on the first day it will be merely a slightly annoying feeling that they're forgetting to do something, but with each passing day the feeling will progress more and more towards full-blown paranoia and a sense of overwhelming dread that if they don't start looking, something terrible will happen. This feeling will go away when they have placed at least one piece of candy that they have gathered in their bowl.

Similarly, reading the note will give a character the feeling that they must put whatever candy they stock up on in the bowls - they are still free not to, of course, but if they hoard it elsewhere they'll have a nagging feeling that there's something they've forgotten throughout the week which will only go away once they've put some or all of their candy into the bowl. This feeling is much easier to ignore than the resulting paranoia from not gathering candy, however.

When a character sets out with the intention to search for candy, they will begin to notice that the candy is scattered about the floors of the Tower. It will be easy enough to pick up one or two pieces in passing as they go about their days, but they will have a nagging feeling that if they look more thoroughly, they will be able to "stock up" - though they will not be able to explain how they know this, or why they are compelled to look.

Characters will have six full days to scour the Tower: The 20th, the 21st, the 22nd, the 23rd, the 24th, and the 25th.

On the 20th, they will be able to search 15 floors before they stop perceiving candy. After they have searched 15 floors, they will not notice candy no matter where else they go - even if they are accompanying someone else who has not yet searched 15 floors and is still seeing candy.

On the 21st, they will be able to search 12 floors before they stop perceiving candy.

On the 22nd, they will be able to search 10 floors before they stop perceiving candy.

On the 23rd, they will be able to search 7 floors before they stop perceiving candy.

On the 24th, they will be able to search 5 floors before they stop perceiving candy.

On the 25th, they will be able to search 2 floors before they stop perceiving candy. At 11:59 PM this night, they will stop perceiving candy entirely, though it will still technically be there; two minutes later, on 12:01 AM on the 26th, any candy that is not already in plastic bowls will vanish from the Tower.

Any characters who, at that point, do not have any candy contained in their bowls will find themselves inexplicably on-edge throughout the next couple of days, and they may find themselves thinking things they wouldn't normally - such as, That person has too much candy, surely they wouldn't notice a few missing... - almost as though the suggestion has been whispered to them in the back of their mind.

If your character is gathering candy during the next six days, please respond to the proper comment below with the following:

1. The day they are searching and how long they spend looking
2. A list of the floors they are searching, in the order they are searching them
3. Their method of searching - whether this means scanning the floor and picking up the first few candies they see, or looking more thoroughly
4. If anyone else is on the floor with them and searching at the same time

You are welcome to post each character's actions for the entire duration all at once if you so choose, but it is also just fine (and expected) to do one day at a time because their actions the next day may be influenced by what they and their CR find on each of the floors. In this case, please post your first day's batch as a response to the comment below, and your second day's batch as a response to the mod comment you will receive in reply so that we can contain all of your findings to a single thread.

If your character is signed up for the event but is not gathering candy for whatever reason - be it their own stubbornness or they got distracted or some other reason - please respond to gathering comment saying which day they abstained from gathering, so that we can detail any specifics they will feel minus the fact that they will feel like they are forgetting something (though this will mostly come after skipping more than one day in a row).

Happy hunting!

On the 23rd, Shion will offer candy to Reno and he won't be able to resist accepting it. The amount hasn't been decided yet pending Shion's search results for the 23rd.

(Oct 22) Given the number of floors, very quick scanning, less thorough than the first two days spent. Poor boy probably got overly excited from the thrill of hunting with Luke. xD
(Oct 20-21) Basic scanning, not much time spent looking too thorough or for very long.
4. OU Luke the first two days.

Alright, Lucifel is one stubborn guy and decided to ignore the notes and candy around him on the 20th, because he didn't want to play Ruana's game.

However, after some convincing from Enoch he accompanies him the rest of the week.

He'll eat the four chocolate crosses, a peanut butter cup, 7 jelly blackberries, and one of the bags of blue cotton candy.

And on the 23rd, he'll be searching floors 51, 53, 54, 55, 57, 60, and 61. He'll be pretty thorough again, and shall be accompanied by Rick on floors 51 and 53, and Amelia (Jones) on floors 54 and 57.

Day: 23rd, taking only half the day this time, but mostly in one go--he'll only return to his room once before searching floors 51 and 53.
Floors: Dorm floors two and three, then traveling down to floors 94, 92, 89, 51 and 53.
Method: See above, particularly in reference to searching empty dorm rooms (less plentiful on these floors), going a bit further into the pyramid than he should (though Veronica/Quark should be able to keep him in line), and trying to sneak his way into as many rooms in the hotel as possible. He'll be more cautious and stay closer to Sealand, though.
Accompanied by: Veronica and Amelia for dorm floors two and three, just Veronica for 94, pick up Quark for floors 92 and 89, then finally drop both of them and join Sealand on floors 51 and 53.

Then, since it seems easier on you guys to just roll for one character and double his results, and they'd just stick like glue to one another already...

Day:
22nd, nearly all day again.

Floors and Methods:
101 (floating gardens): Enoch looks at the bases of trees and digs in the dirt a little, even digging in the real dirt around the sapling again because why not. Lucifel will be poking at the dirt with his umbrella and looking between roots and in plants.
1 (cafeteria): Well, they have to eat, don't they? Between them, they'll search both the dining area (particularly under chairs and tables) and the kitchen, though it will probably be Lucifel who risks the oven if either of them do at all, since he can teleport out if he gets closed in.
15 (workshop): They'll check in drawers and under bundles of material and under and around the equipment. Enoch will double-jump to high places and Lucifel will teleport to what Enoch can't reach.
14 (media room): More beanbags and couch cushions to search! Enoch will do that, looking under both the furniture and its cushions while Lucifel searches around the equipment, teleporting himself into any odd space that would be hard to get to and/or using his umbrella to reach things in small corners.
13 (cathedral): Because of this floor's size, they split the work, each taking a side of the aisle and looking through the pews - under them too, if they can. Lucifel will teleport up to the rafters to see if there's anything there (assuming there's something he can hold onto) and Enoch will check around the front, including the pulpit.
12 (spacial projection): This floor involves a lot of sweeping the ground with the tip of an umbrella or the edge of the Arch to find any candy hidden in the projection. If they feel or hear their chosen implements strike something, they'll pick it up. (And obviously pick up whatever is in plain sight)
11 (rainbows and waterfalls): Enoch and Lucifel will pick a side and search in the flowing water. As well, they'll look up at the flowers growing from the ceiling and either double-jump from the stairs or teleport (since it's not outside the tower) up to get any candy they see.
10 (aquarium): Once again, Enoch cannot swim, so he is confined to searching the walkways and whatever is in arm's reach within the water. Lucifel, on the other hand, holds his breath and teleports in and out of the blocks themselves, searching in the water itself.
9 (dark mindscrew floor): Enoch leaves Lucifel with the bag on the stairs while he goes into the floor itself, feeling for candy on the floor as he is eventually forced to crawl. He will put any candy he finds in his pockets until he reaches the edge and is pulled back, at which point the candies collected will be transferred to the pool.
8 (maze): This floor takes up most of their time. They split up here, each keeping a hand on the opposite wall at the start and eventually meeting up at the end after traversing the whole maze between them and collecting what they see along the way.

Company:
Enoch and Lucifel are searching together the whole way.

10/23

[personal profile] no_longer_a_king 2013-10-23 10:34 pm (UTC)(link)
26: Opening up the drawers and patting down bodies to see if there's candy on them.
45: General scan and search.
48: Checking the graves for more chocolate roses
60: Going through the cupboards and generally tearing the place apart to find candy.
74: With Zelda. Looking through every nook and cranny she can find.
76: With Zelda. Looking through the plants and where there's any supplies stored to make sure everything is covered.
77: With Zelda. Searching through all the baths and her locker and where towels and such are stored. Yes, even the mens' things. Arturia gives no fucks.

Day: October 23rd, until he can't find any more
Searching floors: 92 (bat/raccoon), 82 (removing his mask), 73 (polar bear), 68 (mountain goat), 25, 13, 6
Method: Using hawk form for general scanning and putting it in his bag. Other morphs indicated on the relevant floors.
Accompanied by: Nobody

Day: Oct. 24th
Time spent: 30-45 minutes per floor unless otherwise stated
Floors searched: 40, 39, 38, 33, 32
Search methods:
(40): Joining up with Enoch and Lucifel first thing on this floor, then getting down to work; the three of them search the place thoroughly, on shelves, in boxes, and on top of the larger ones which will definitely take more than 45 minutes to do
(39): Lucifel takes advantage of his angelic strength to move weights aside with minimal risk while Enoch and Zelda explore the rest of the equipment, looking under, behind, and on top of them
(38): Typical lounge searching procedure; overturning cushions/beanbags, looking under couches, etc
(33): Scanning the field as a whole before shifting things around and in the shed
(32): Once again looking specifically at bushes, though she'll go after anything she can see
Search partners: Enoch and Lucifel on Floors 40, 39, and 38
