Event: Body Swap; Sign Ups

On September 17, certain residents of the Tower will wake up in the body of someone else. They will have access to any abilities the body they swapped into has, as is often usual with this sort of thing. But by the end of the day, they'll find bits and pieces of memories from the original owner of the body leaking into their consciousness.

And then the side effects will begin, growing worse and more horrifying until it threatens to kill everyone in the wrong body. The Tower residents had better figure out how to swap back soon: there will be no automatic switchback, and if those in the Tower do not figure out how to switch back themselves, everyone who has swapped will die.

These, of course, are the sign ups! Swaps are one-to-one: there will be no groups of three or more swapping bodies. You are allowed to select your own partner for this, but we encourage random selection to make things especially chaotic. Please reply to the appropriate thread in this post in order to sign up for random selection. You may also use this post for plotting if you wish.

Also, I wrote up a small post about Jade's powers for you. I sort of had to take some liberties, since she has so many in canon and it's not 100% clear where one set of powers ends and the others begin. It will also have a write-up of some of her memories later, once I've sifted through things and decided on some.

As for Kazumi, well, she's a Puella Magi, which if you've seen Madoka Magica, you know what that means. Otherwise, here was my write-up from her app:

Kazumi is a magical girl. What this actually means is that her soul has been removed from her body and crystalized into a soul gem that can control her body from up to 100 meters away. Her fortified body feels reduced pain and can be healed with magic; in fact, as long as her soul gem remains unharmed, she won’t die regardless of what kind of damage her body takes if she has enough power left to reconstruct herself. She can also create blasts of energy and has enhanced physical abilities of speed, strength and agility. There is of course, a limit – using magic tarnishes her soul gem, and if it isn’t cleaned by using Grief Seeds harvested from witches, she’ll become a witch. This is true of all magical girls.
Kazumi specifically has several magical abilities. Her powers are those of “destruction”, and manifest in a large beam attack, “Limiti Esterni” that she fires from her cross-shaped staff. As well, she can do some other magic attacks like conjuring rifles, ribbons and limited flight, as well as opening witches barriers. She’s proficient in melee combat and can transform her staff into other weapons, like a scythe or swords.

She can also use magic for a bunch of random things like fixing glasses, small conjurations and other suitably "magical" things.

I haven't written up her memories yet either though they'll probably include the ones where she finds out just what it means to be a Puella Magi (congrats Jade, your soul is now outside your body!).

Oh, sweet. And thanks for the write-up. I've seen Madoka Magica, but I'm behind on Kazumi Magica, so I didn't know just how much Kazumi can do!

I think Jade's memories are at least going to include how she died and went God Tier...

This is a good example of Limiti Esterni. The 2nd and 3rd chapters would be good examples of her "everyday" sort of life for memories early in the event?

Chapter 10 starts with when Kazumi first finds out about the true nature of witches and soul gems, and chapter 10, 11 and 12 have flashbacks to significant memories for her. Her canon point is end of chapter 12.

This scene in chapter 6 is also a pretty good stab to the feels as well.

Oh and this part in chapter 9 gives a good look at The Freezer. Always a good way to raise awkward questions.

Also, I just realized how fitting it is to body swap Kazumi, who is so witch-like and is the star of the Pleiades Saints, named after a star cluster, and Jade, the Witch of Space.
