Event: Communications Failure; Sign Ups
Residents of the Tower may be noticing the strange issues that have been popping up: the networks have been failing to display posts and comments at random this week, and next week, things become steadily incomprehensible, starting with the network and the worker units. It's not long, of course, before whatever typically translates for everyone begins breaking down for the residents as well.
From the 20th to the 22nd, everyone will find the translation mechanisms of the Tower have had some sort of critical error. And it's a really bizarre error--instead of being forced to only communicate in languages they typically speak, many will have languages scrambled. Their own native languages will be just as incomprehensible to them as one they've never heard, and even those who typically can learn languages instantly or very quickly will find it impossible to acquire or reacquire languages.
Those who do not sign up for this event will speak their native language and any other languages they know. The translators will not work, so they will only be able to communicate fully with others whose language(s) they understand.
Those who do sign up for this event will have their languages scrambled. They will speak the same number of languages they spoke originally, but the languages won't be the ones they started with. Someone who only speaks French may suddenly find themselves speaking Klingon, and someone who speaks English and Spanish may end up speaking Elvish and an Eldritch language their mouths have no right pronouncing properly. The moderators will assign the languages you end up speaking.
If you wish to sign up to have your languages scrambled, reply to this thread. Sign ups end at 12:01AM EST November 19.

1/ Data is built in with knowledge that allows him to speak A LOT of languages (I don't have them all but most of those spoken in the Federation, so probably thousands). Would the event temper with his languages files?
2/ His Starfleet Badge is built in with an universal translator (limited to federation languages). Would this translator work?

Character: Luke fon Fabre
Languages Spoken: Fonic Language; there's no official Word of God that says what this language equates to. I headcanon that is a language that sounds more like a music theorist slapped together some musical terms. Either way, no one would be able to understand him if he didn't end up speaking something else. :|b
