Event: Idealism; Game Start
The morning of June 9th, characters will find a note beside their beds when they wake.
"The game starts tonight! Remember to check under the bed for monsters. Have fun! ♥"
Though it's possible to disobey the note, characters will get the distinct feeling that they should sleep outside of their rooms. Characters will not be required to sleep in their beds for the remainder of the month, and will not succumb to exhaustion death if they choose to spend every night elsewhere.
Between 8 and 9 PM, the first wave of characters will transform into monsters. Monsters are quadruped black beasts with masquerade-style masks fixed onto their faces in various colors. Monsters will be one of five different types: laughing, crying, screaming, growling, or apathetic.
If they are in the presence of any other characters between 8 and 9 PM, starter monsters will feel compelled to sneak off somewhere that they can be alone to transform, though they will not be conscious of the reason that they are doing this and may not even remember it once they transform back. The rules for monster transformation are as follows:
A general mingle log can be found here, though players are welcome to post their own logs if they prefer or if they have plotted something in advance that would not fit the mingle format. Using the NPC account provided, starter monsters will tag threads in the mingle log, using the appropriate icon for their monster. Once a character fails to kill a monster -- either by threading it out with the monster or by PMing the monster account with a foregone conclusion to the thread -- the mods will reply to that character's sign-up post with their type of monster and the username/password to the monster NPC journal. That player is then welcome to tag open logs in the community and chronologically appropriate open threads in the mingle with the monster account. Non-starter monsters will be given emotion-based powers that correspond to the type of monster that they are assigned.
Happy hunting!

The rules for monster transformation are as follows:
- Characters will transform into monsters every night between 8 and 9 PM, and then back into their normal selves between 6 and 7 AM. They will not be aware of their own transformation at any point.
- Transformed monsters are not subject to the same restrictions as normal Tower monsters. Meaning, they can freely travel into the dorms, the bathrooms, and through de-powering floors without any ill effect.
- If a monster is killed at nighttime by someone else who has signed up for the event, the monster will revive and the killer of the monster will begin transforming into a monster at nighttime from that point on.
- If a character who is not signed up for the event kills a monster at nighttime, they will have a tally mark carved into their hand. They will receive one tally mark for every monster they kill in this fashion. This will remain until the end of the event.
- To successfully kill a monster and reverse the transformation effect, they must be killed during the daytime, when the character is his or her normal self.
- The starter wave of monsters have an additional requirement that must be met during the daytime before they are killed.
- To successfully kill a monster and bring them back to normal, the kill must be with intent. (E.g. if character A kills character B because they know character B is a monster, this will bring character B back to normal. However, if character A kills character B just because they feel like it, or if character B suffers a random Tower-related death, character B will continue to transform into a monster.)
- Once a monster is killed or the game ends, all memories of what that character did while they were a monster will be returned to them. The character will wake up in their room and be subjected to the appropriate amount of sleep paralysis. The word "MONSTER" will be written on the ceiling in blood above their bed.

CAPTAIN RANDOM QUESTIONS BEGIN

Would an "indirect" kill count -- like, if a character unable to kill a monster by their own strength managed to lure it into a trap or trick it into killing itself with a Tower hazard, would that count as them killing it for tallying or transformation purposes?
no subject
As long as the character lured or tricked them intentionally, yes.

Because 6am questions are going to come out all wrong....
Ruana it is officially game on.Few questions please:
1) Roughly how long does it take for the monsters to revive once killed at night time and does this also apply to non-signed up character kills?
2) How difficult are the monsters to kill, say for example compared to the monsters in the Bestiary or will this depend on each encounter? (Starter vs non-starter monster of each type?) I don't want to run the risk of godmodding...
3) General "during the Monsters event" open logs are specific enough timing wise? I'm thinking to put 1st encounter in the Mingle thread and then dump all other encounters in in an open log?
4)Tally marks are the same as the scarring from the previous Rumors event? (ie. they bleed for a bit and then scar over?)
And 5) To check, though I'm sure this one's a given, non-signed up characters killed by any monster accumulate deaths as normal?
no subject
2. It will depend on the monster, but on average they'd be an eight, with powers pushing them up a bit higher depending on the situation.
3. That would be specific enough as long as it was open.
4. Yes.
5. Yes.

1) Would the jail cells contain a monster? or does this fall under the 'not-subject-to'?
2) Just to be clear, a transformed character who is then killed in their normal form isn't able to be turned again?
3)By 'kills' in terms of the tallying marks, it only applies to the monsters at night time - there is no effect for killing during the day?
no subject
2. The starters will not be able to be turned again, but regular characters could be.
3. Only monsters at night, yes.
