PLOTTING - Monster Souls

There's been a lot of talk about souls and the notion of reality in the tower--what is there, what isn't, and how that manifests with the soul itself--and it is rather interesting that the monsters are some of the only real constructs around. After offering help for something completely different, Rick has recently come to know that Kid Sephiroth is working on a bestiary, and he'd like to help out further by absorbing a monster's soul so he can shift into it. Shenanigans ensue, and your character(s) can be a part of them if you so choose!

This plot will take place over the course of a week, approximately from August 1st--8th. I hope to split it into two parts:

Part One: The Hunt
Rick will contact Kid Sephiroth a few days after the resolution of the raid on Jason's lab/collar boycott repercussions to posit his idea (the prompt). It will be a locked network post; however, either party could invite close CR or other relevant individuals to help out, and given Rick's history with using filters, we could arrange for technically-minded people to hack the thread and figure out what's going on that way, too. A small group (ten characters at most) will be organized from the volunteers, and a few days later will mobilize at night to hunt down and cripple a monster for Rick to bond with. Since they'll be wading through pretty dangerous areas in the tower before an appropriate target has been found (the species has already been determined), character death is likely here. After the monster is felled, the remaining group will need to defend the area while Rick initiates bonding, which will take several minutes. In total, this part should run ICly from August 1st--3rd, into the morning of the 4th.

Part Two: Aftermath
Needless to say, the bonding isn't going to go exactly to plan. I don't want to spoil too much, HOWEVER, this part will affect characters who have close bonds to people outside the Tower. Rick will actively seek out these characters (as a human, mind) and will know intimate details about their relationships, but will consistently twist discussions about them around that character's greatest fears. This will continue until the administrators get involved--either through Rick's death, someone pointing it out to the admins personally, or at the natural resolution of the plot on the 8th (when they notice something's gone amiss). If you want to sign up for this part, post below and please include:
- character's close, out-of-Tower relationships (including CR with characters that left the Tower and are no longer present and AU versions of characters that are currently here), and as many personal details about them as possible;
- character's greatest fears, either about those relationships or in general, and;
- if your character is telepathic/can read minds/has similar mental abilities, since they might find out something interesting. :3
I'll try to arrange this part in a party-post fashion, but if you want me to hop in on a thread you're doing instead (or some other arrangement involving multiple individuals), don't hesitate to poke me (say, on Plurk) about it! I figure this part can be fairly flexible.

Happy plotting, lovelies!

Just a placeholder for now. I would like Arturia to be part of this. Unfortunately I'm about to take a nap since I work nights. So I will get back to you on this!

I'm sorry I thought I posted in this a while ago. Please forgive me.

Ahem.

Anyway! To start with: Arturia's greatest fears involve betrayal and loss of control. By betrayal I mean she herself suddenly betraying those around her completely out of the blue and loss of control involves things where she is perfectly aware of herself, but her body moves of its own accord, especially when it comes to being forced to kill or hurt people.

The betrayal aspect stems from betraying Shirou in her history. In her canon she wound up falling in love with him (maybe? It was less than two weeks and she's never been sure) and swearing to protect him. I don't know how much you know about the Grail War, but I made a FAQ about it HERE if you want to look it over.

Anyway, at the end of the Fifth Grail War, Arturia was offered a chance to have the Grail and make her wish. If she killed Shirou. To even her own shock she beheaded Shirou then and there, immediately had a nervous breakdown about it, and when she made her wish on the Grail it went horribly, horribly wrong.

There's sort of a pattern in her life of things being AMAZING.... then going horribly, horribly wrong and Arturia blames herself for it the entire time. She's King Arthur in her canon and, naturally, she blames Camelot's fall on herself. It literally was not until a few years ago in the real world that women could take the throne if there was no male heir in England. And Arturia, being from around 500 CE, had to hide her gender when she took the Throne of Albion. This deception went so far as taking a 'wife' in Guinevere, who became one of her closest friends and confidante. Which went to hell when Guinevere fell in love with Arturia's other BFF, Lancelot. (A version of Lancelot being in the Tower.) Lancelot and Guinevere's affair got discovered. Lancelot manages to escape Camelot, but Arturia is forced, by law, to try to burn Gwen at the stake. Lancelot rescues her, but it causes a lot of political upheaval that ends in war.

Throughout all this, Arturia doesn't blame Gwen and Lancelot at all. If anything she is very understanding of the situation in general and the only part she had been upset about is them not telling her so she could help them. Naturally, she blames herself and believes if she hadn't been king that Gwen and Lancelot could've been happy.

In the Fourth Grail War there was Irisviel, who was the vessel for the Holy Grail. She ultimately wound up dying, but Arturia protected her and treated her like she was her Lady. When Arturia cares about people, she pours her whole self into it, so she was really very attached to Irisviel and desperate to protect her.

Some recently dropped CR of interest might be Rin Matou ([personal profile] angramaintsu), Archer ([personal profile] swordedpast), and Saber Alter ([personal profile] scorchedchivalry). Rin she wasn't very close to, but she wanted to look out for. Archer she got very close to and even went so far as to consider him a friend, which is a big deal to her, as she's a Counter Guardian like he is. So at the very least if she goes back to her duties, she won't be alone. Saber Alter is an alternate version of herself. She just calls herself 'Saber' since 'Alter' is just a signifier for 'Alternate' version OOCly. Same as how we call Arturia 'Saber Lily' even though she isn't called that ICly. They got very close to one another, provided one another with comfort and peace. Alter sometimes called Arturia 'Wart' much to her annoyance. As that's a nickname her/their older brother Kay gave them in childhood she/they didn't like very much.

As to the loss of control bit: Arturia is what's called a Counter Guardian. A type of Heroic Spirit that's specifically meant to keep humanity from going extinct by the spirit of the world itself. People who wish and are granted miracles in exchange for service to the world become them. Arturia's pledge to the world had been to be allowed to attain the Grail while on her death bed. So unlike other Servants in the Holy Grail War, she was technically still alive.

Well, Arturia got the Grail. And got her wish. and it wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

Being a Counter Guardian involves being the cleanup crew. Basically Arturia was forced, for centuries from her perspective, to slaughter people wholesale who might in some way be connected to any possibility of humanity becoming extinct. It didn't matter if they knew or not, were truly involved or simply in the area, if it was a time of peace or war. Arturia, while screaming for it to stop in her mind, was made by the world to kill people. Her body doing the deed while her mind fought every step of the way and failing. There was absolutely no rest or break from this as the moment she was finished in one battlefield she was flung across time and space to do it all over again, endlessly.

And the very first place she had to do this to was her own Kingdom thanks to her wish going wrong! ♥

....Let me know if you need any clarification please? Because this got long and rambly and I don't know how much is going to be used or not in the thread itself. But yeah, this is basically Arturia's whole deal right here.
