Death awaits you~ (aka time for a plot!)

Hello Animus! Venus here to notify you that next week on the fifteenth, there will be a small player-plot! Simply put, fate cannot be escaped and through some tricks Ryoji is going to be forced into his Nyx Avatar mode. Needless to say, brave heroes are going to be necessary to face Ryoji/Nyx and kill him before he can go rampant throughout the tower, since Ryoji won't really be in control of himself any more at this point.

To top it all off, he will be granted what essentially amounts to four human shields, whose life energy will protect him. As such, they may need to be killed as well… or not. It really depends on how efficient the heroes are at attacking Ryoji!

Remember how Sephiroth got taken down by a bunch of heroes a few months ago? Obviously, the Evil Alliance can not tolerate such behavior and has decided to take measures against it (even if they’re a tad belated). In this plot, Ganondorf is going to use his powers to force Ryoji into his Nyx Avatar mode. To do so, he is going to collect the ‘negative emotions’ of residents of the tower into crystals. (The concept is that of the gratitude crystals in Skyward Sword, but here applied to sorrow, misery and hatred. Given that this is the Tower of Animus, getting those crystals is going to be the easy part.)

Each of the crystals will then be infused within four characters. Through evil magic, the negative emotions, will to die, etc. confined inside of them will artificially simulate The Fall and trick Ryoji into becoming Nyx Avatar. These characters will be: Diarmuid, Lancer, Patrick Dawn and Yukiko Amagi. Their life energy will be used to shield Ryoji from external attacks to some extent, so killing them may be necessary before Ryoji can be properly attacked (albeit not necessary). The villains' reasoning here is that to fight the heroes as vengeance would be counter-productive at best; whereas having the heroes kill each other should be much more dissuading.

So as said above, we're going to need brave heroes (or not) to fight Ryoji and potentially the four vessels; or maybe save them, if they can! The four vessels and Ryoji will be at Towerception (75th floor) and the villains will wait for the heroes there. When the heroes will finally arrive, the villains (that should be Sephiroth, Nesir and Ganondorf) will deliver a speech before awakening Nyx, and then the battle will happen. There are two different scenarios for how the heroes will arrive to the fight, depending on whether or not your character took part in the Sephiroth battle:

- For the characters who participated in the battle against Sephiroth and who want to be a part of this, they will be sent a seemingly friendly letter or tricked into coming at Towerception at the right time. After all, they're the primary target of this plot along with Ryoji and the vessels.

- For the characters who didn't participate in the battle against Sephiroth, the best way for them to take part in this battle is for them to pass by Towerception at the right time (the battle will be noisy enough) or sense a disturbance in the force what with Nyx's awakening and rush to Towerception.

So that's basically it. If you're interested or have any questions, please reply here!

Cystal holders plotting!

So, given that the crystal holders will be getting overwhelmed by all the despair that's been planted within them and then used to shield Nyx, let's make some plans for what's they're going to be like under Nyx's influence?

I am going the 'everyone you love is dead and gone because you failed to save them. that means the only way left is dying yourself' route, I think. That'll mean being sad and angry and pretty well broken.

What does that mean, fight-wise? Yukiko's going to want to protect Nyx at all costs, and that will mean a ton of healing spells flying towards anyone else trying to do the same. It'll also mean a lot of fire magic flying at anyone who gets too close.

...in other words, she might be the one people will want to take out first just so she'll quit spamming Diarahan/Mediarahan/Maragidyne, sob.

Due to both canon (his Master dying in a way reminiscent of his teacher) and Tower events (his friends and his Masters getting sent back to their dead worlds), it's fair to say Lancer already has a lot of anger and will to die buried within him. The added dose of despair is gonna kick him into fully berserk riastrad territory.

When that happens, he'll spend most of his time fighting for Nyx in his warped state, making him to the heavy slugger of the team. He'll be too angry to tell who's who, but might hesitate in tearing apart someone he's really, really close to. Being angry all the time means he lacks his runes and will primarily rely on slamming into people with brute force or, if need be, exploding Gae Bolg. And what's more, given that he doesn't care about his own life or even victory, his attacks will be reckless. He'll just want to smash everything within a certain radius.

To summarize, a pure brute who might smash you into pieces, but wouldn't chase you if you snuck past him.

For Diarmuid's part his driving negative emotion is, not surprisingly, going to be guilt. No matter how much he loses himself in this fight (I haven't decided if he will slip over into full on enraged/blood tears mode yet), he is always going to know on some level: This is your fault. For not protecting Ryoji. For not protecting anyone to be honest. For allowing himself to fall into dishonor. For not finding a better way to deal with Sephiroth, etc. That guilt will build until it snuffs out the little light that has always kept him going before, releasing all that hate and anger that was awakened inside of him right before he came here but he has kept so carefully caged since then. All that negative emotion is going to twist his wishes until...well until he comes to the conclusion that the only way anyone will truly be safe and protected is if they are dead. Nyx will do what he cannot.

Oops...

In addition to that, Diarmuid is also going to feel like he has to be the last one standing besides Nyx so that he will know, without a doubt, that everyone he cares about is safe. Which means seeing everyone he cares about die before he does.

Oops again...

However, until everyone else is dead, he is going to fight to protect those fighting with him above everything else because they are his family. He doesn't need any encouragement to want to protect them. So, his role in this little team will be that annoying 'enemy' who never stays in one place long enough for you to hit him. Unless engaged himself, Diarmuid won't engage others. Instead, he is going to bounce from place to place blocking that shot that should have hit no matter what and then moving away again.

Diarmuid won't be shy to use either of his weapons at full power either. Both Gae Dearg and Gae Buidhe will be unsealed for the battle. It should be pointed out that since Gae Buidhe is not the Noble Phantasm version of the weapon, its powers are separate from Diarmuid's own and any nullification of his powers will not nullify Gae Buidhe's abilities unless the spear is specifically targeted separately from Diarmuid.

Since the only way to heal a wound gotten from Gae Buidhe is to destroy the spear (I would rather not) or kill Diarmuid, I full expect he will be dying during this fight. He hasn't taken the new collar fluid yet, so his powers will be glamour based.

These bros need to take some hits for each other at some point during the fight. Just saying.

Agreed! Diarmuid is probably going to be focusing on protecting everyone else so much he probably won't be watching himself as much as he should be.

Typical of him, no?

Rick's main source of guilt is that he feels he's lied to everyone here. As I've kind of hinted in his more recent discussion with Zett, while Rick's been willing to fight, that previous fervor he had to save his world, his friends and his wife, is really starting to fray due to sheer desperation. He's died and been knocked down so many times, and with that countdown staring him in the face, Rick is beginning to wonder what happens if they don't succeed--and if so, how violently he's going to be rejected for promising everyone that they will. He feels that there is nothing left for him except to keep fighting; there's not even enough hope there to drive him, just the sheer necessity to survive. And if that guilt overpowers the hope he has left, then obviously this means everyone hates him, and he is a horrible monster that deserves nothing except to throw his life away to protect whatever is most important to him at the moment. Under the influence of the despair crystal, this would be Nyx.

Battle-wise...well I think we all know that Rick isn't going to be talking much during this, save the beginning, or as he's dying, and apart from the level of depression he shows his mannerisms won't be much different. Otherwise he will probably be a dinosaur. With Yukiko, he will be an invincible dinosaur.

Gomen heroes :3
