It seems like things got a little bit mixed up at some point during room assignments, and they needed to be cleaned up anyway, so room assignments have been redone! Your character may have been moved to a different room. If they were moved, all of their roommates moved with them; we didn't split up any current rooms, although we did merge a few. This is an IC switch, so characters can (and should) notice the change. All of the objects in their rooms will have moved to their new room if they switched, and of course all the names outside the doors would have changed. There will be an NPC post about this going up shortly. Please tell us if your character was accidentally removed from the list; we did sweep a few dropped characters. Also tell us if we've accidentally placed two of your characters in the same room.

This is also a good time to remind you guys to check the taken characters and player contact lists to make sure you and your characters are on it; these lists are what we use to confirm which characters are currently in the game and who plays who.

And now, your obligatory pony gif.

To celebrate Friday the 13th, there are new floors in the Tower!

Floors )

There is also one new job to go along with these floors; maybe you'd like to sign your character up?

Third, there is now a Character Death Repercussions page. This page only comes into effect when your character dies for a seventh time. If this happens, please go to that page and follow the instructions before you bring your character back, as there will be additional effects that we will have to explain to you.

And now, a pony.

Hey guys, got something new here for the game - a permissions posts list, where we can collect the various permissions posts of people in the game so there's a handy place to direct new people to, 'cause it can get tedious to throw one's own post at new people, and sometimes you forget to do it, so yeah.

So, go fill that out if it applies to you - and could someone fill out a comment for that big catch-all Homestuck HTML Permissions thing? I know there's one, but I have no idea where it is. Having just that on there would work a lot better than one for every member of the HS cast.

Mel here, on a character account because this allows me to make a poll. We have been discussing the idea of app cycles. We do seem to be retaining enough players compared to our drops to go to app cycles, and having a set time we receive and process apps at once would help us get them done more quickly.

The current idea is to have applications open at 12:01am on Saturday and close one week later at 12:01 the Saturday afterward. Applications will be submitted and processed that week. Reservations will be changed in that they will open the Sunday after applications close and close the day before applications open, being held three days into the application cycle to give people time to submit but also to allow those who want to apply for a character to apply if the person currently holding the reservation does not turn one in.

We'd like to hear your thoughts on the matter! This poll will be open for one week; if this goes through, we will have one week following the conclusion of the poll in which applications will be processed as they are now. We will then close applications, and the first application cycle will be in April.

Please vote!

We're pleased to welcome Rue (player of Nina Fortner) to the moderator team! Rue will be helping out with plotting/NPC work and applications. Please give her a warm welcome/run around in a panic/throw things/set fires/you know whatever!

Okay, Mel here with some information/announcements/possibly a gif for you guys! Let's get started.

Moderator Applications
Due to various time constraints on the current mods, we are in need of someone available on weekends to help with applications, as well as possibly work on plotting with me if they'd like. Therefore, it's moderator application time!

Please email this form to the moderator email at towerofanimusmods@gmail.com.

Name:
Time Zone:
Characters Played:
Amount of Free Time:
How long have you played in Animus?
Why do you think you would be a good moderator? (We'd like at least a few sentences, please!)

Application/Character Allowance Changes
We've made a small change in what we will allow into Tower of Animus: instead of one AU and one OU version of a character, we will allow two instances of a character. This means that we could have two AUs of a character at once.

Applications have been tweaked somewhat--the original character and game transfer applications have been made slightly more detailed. This is elaborated on in the applications themselves, but essentially we are asking for a slightly longer personality section and a second sample.

Gameplay/FAQ Changes
A few things have been added that may be of interest to you! The FAQ now details what happens during a collar checkup. The Gameplay section now includes more detailed information on what the network terminals are like/where they are located. It also includes information on the bestiary.

Bestiary & Jobs
Animus now has a bestiary. This is primarily player-driven; for the most part the monsters are creatures from the worlds of the characters, twisted in some way. As long as monster creation is open, feel free to fill out the provided form and suggest some monsters!

The jobs page has been tweaked; instead of waiting for us to approve you and place you on a list, you can simply reply to the appropriate comment to sign your character up for a job automatically. The only time you'll need to wait on us for approval is if you use the random selection method and have us select a job for you.

January Activity Check
This month's activity check is simply the move over to Dreamwidth. Make sure your information is included on the taken character page and player contact page. We will be removing anyone who is not on these lists from the game at the end of the month.

That's all for now. Thank you for listening!

01 January 2012 @ 12:21 am
Part two of the event takes place on the Dreamwidth communities.

The Livejournal Animus communities are now for backtagging only. New posts should go on the Dreamwidth communities.

29 December 2011 @ 10:34 pm
Okay guys, listen up! Tower of Animus is moving to Dreamwidth! In fact, we're moving this weekend! Kind of. Please read this post carefully.

Schedule
We will be jumping over to Dreamwidth with new content starting January 1st. There will be a plot posted tonight that will go along with this. The first part of the plot will take place in the Livejournal communities, and the second part in the Dreamwidth communities. After January 1st do not post any new content to the Livejournal communities. You may, of course, continue to backdate. We will not be importing until community imports are available for free users--probably around the end of January/beginning of February, to account for the inevitable backup.

Applications are closed until January 7th. This will give us time to set everything up. All current reservations have been extended until the 9th to accommodate this.

Activity Check
We're basically giving you a free month on the AC, but there is something you have to do: this month we ask that you check out on this post under the appropriate heading and check in here on the Dreamwidth community.

To check out, post your current character(s) names and journal(s) and tell us what their Dreamwidth account(s) are. You will be required to link to your check out to check in, so hopefully you won't forget. If you cannot access Livejournal to check out, someone else can check out for you.

Okay, you can begin the check out process!

Okay guys, we're returning with another poll: considering Livejournal's behavior and feedback from some of our members, we have put moving more seriously on the table than it was a few days ago. If you would like to review the various reasons people have for desiring a move, a compilation is available here. We will not move if the majority wishes to stay, so here's a poll just for you! More detailed thoughts in the comments are encouraged!

[Poll #1805506]

Note that if we do end up moving, this will not take place until January, and the poll will be open for quite some time. There are a lot of people on hiatus or generally slowed down for the holidays, after all. If we do choose to move, we'll try to make it more fun for you guys by planning an in-game event around it! Please vote only once per mun, of course (unless you're just voting for tickies).

21 December 2011 @ 12:49 pm
Alright, you've all probably seen the change to livejournal's default comment pages. We have a couple options here, unless you'd like to select more, and you guys should have a say in this, so we have provided a poll! Note that in the event livejournal creates an option to return to the old default we will return to that style no matter which option is chosen here.

Custom comment pages are currently activated in [livejournal.com profile] animusmods; hop over there and see what the layout would look like that way.

[Poll #1804817]

ALTERNATE OPTION: Would you like us to discuss moving? Please discuss this in the comments because I would like to see more detailed thoughts on this than a poll can provide.

New Moderator
Best news first! We have chosen a new person to join the mod team! Please welcome Wingus to the mod team, and be on your best behavior/haze him relentlessly. He would like food.

Application/Character Limit Changes
The character limit has been upped to five characters per player! Along with this, we now allow original characters and characters transplanted from other games, although there are separate applications to be filled out in these cases.

About The New Character Information Note
All instances of this note on the walls of the Tower have vanished. They will continue to vanish if placed on them. Characters may hand out the note, but may not place it around the Tower without it disappearing. This is because often introduction information is a good way to start off character relations, particularly with introverted/loner characters. Also, players may want their characters to discover certain facets of this information on their own, without having to explain why they didn't see a note prominently displayed everywhere.

That said, this note is a really awesome resource, and major props to Minato-mun and Rose-mun for making it!

Reminders
Please tag your posts! This means that you tag any post your character is in on the log comm, and any post your character makes on the network comm.

Make sure your information is included and up-to-date on the taken character and player contact lists!

ADDITIONALLY, when hiatusing or dropping a character, we cannot stress how important it is for you to post here to let us know! Doing this avoids so much confusion, especially around Activity Check time.

The following characters did not check in during the activity check and are in danger of removal if they do not reply to this post:

Warned List )

You have until 11:59PM November 7th to reply to this post with activity. If we have made a mistake/you know this person is on hiatus/has activity, please reply!

Additionally, we are lowering the requirements to pass activity check, starting from this warned list. Under normal circumstances, you will need five comments to pass; if you ask for a second chance, you will need ten.

If you wish, you may ask for a second chance. This will allow you to skip this activity check. However, you will have to provide double activity (ten comments) in the following activity check, and you may not second chance more than three times.

31 October 2011 @ 09:46 pm
It has come to our attention that we really need a third mod to help us out with things around here. As such, we will be opening up applications for a mod position! We are primarily looking for someone who will be willing to help out with lists, although application/plot work is also a possibility.

If you'd like to apply, fill out the form and submit it here! Comments are screened.

Applications are closed!

30 September 2011 @ 04:22 am
Sign ups for special experimentation are now closed. If you weren't selected, don't worry, there will be other opportunities! Sign ups for the plot in general are open for one more week, if you'd like to get in on it!

While we're here, remember that the Activity Check ends tonight, and the warned list will go up after midnight EST.

03 September 2011 @ 11:21 pm
Just a quick reminder that sign-ups for the leashes event end tomorrow! This event is tailored toward creating new CR, so if you're interested, hop over there. We'll be assigning pairs tomorrow.

We were not clear on our policy of allowing challenge applications and while we cannot change the past, we will now clarify our policy and make sure everyone is on the same page.

We do accept challenge applications, but the reserved applicant will get first review and if needed, revisions. If the reserved application is rejected or the reserved player does not apply before their reserve runs out, the challenge application will be then be judged.

You can also read it on the FAQ page. We are sorry if feelings were hurt and we are making every effort to make this clear from now on.

30 July 2011 @ 10:18 pm
We also have another announcement to make!

We have an addition to the mod team in the form of Kim, the player of South Italy (OU) and Karkat Vantas. Hopefully this will help us get things done faster and we'll have less downtime on apps and reserves if one or two mods are busy! Treat her well or we'll get out the big sticks :|

Also, if you have not replied to the Taken List or the Contact List, please do so now! We want to keep this up to date for potential applicants and you! Thank you guys!

30 July 2011 @ 09:26 pm
Because of LJ's issues the past week we're extending the AC until Wednesday! Make sure to get your checks in, guys!

10 June 2011 @ 11:59 pm
For the next two in-game days, four NPCs will be available for questioning in two sessions. These sessions will be covered in this post. Be aware that any attacks on the NPCs will result in your character being neutralized: that is, any powers they have will fail before use, and they will be rendered unconscious for the remainder of the session, waking up only once the NPCs have left. Characters who are attempting to use weapons will be rendered unconscious before they can attempt to use the weapon.

New questions may be asked until Tuesday; after this, no new questions will be answered, but threads already in play may continue. Any questions you have about this event can be posted here.

09 June 2011 @ 08:09 pm
Okay, so you may have seen that LJ has recently added a "feature" where a city is listed next to your IP address. This is the city of wherever your internet provider is. Because of the privacy concerns associated with this, while Animus did have IP logging on, we have turned it off due to this announcement. Comments posted before we turned off IP logging still has this information; the mods are the only ones who can see it, and we won't be using it for anything.

If you want to turn off IP logging on your own journals, go to your account settings and click on privacy. The option will be in there. Thank you!
